The AITMM National Conference: sustainability meets uncompromising quality
The AITMM National Conference was conceived with a precise ambition: to demonstrate how a nationally significant event can be designed and managed in full compliance with the principles of ISO 20121. The brief from AITMM Italian Association Travel Mobility Manager called for a full day structured around congress sessions, networking moments and a complete sequence of catering services, from a welcome coffee through to a standing dinner aperitivo, we also took care of entertainment, and, most importantly, we calculated the event’s carbon footprint and planned activities to encourage sustainability awareness in the event’s attendees.
Smart Eventi's proposal
A sustainable supply chain from venue to catering: Smart Eventi's project for AITMM
Smart Eventi developed the AITMM National Conference as a textbook example of sustainable management according to the ISO 20121 standard, building a system in which every component of the supply chain was actively involved. The venue choice fell on Officine De Rolandi, itself ISO 20121 certified, ensuring consistency of approach from the infrastructure up. Catering was entrusted to a well-established provider, which handled the welcome coffee, coffee break and standing dinner aperitivo. Meanwhile, the GECO team coordinated data collection across all parties involved, from the organising team to suppliers, feeding the information into a dedicated platform for carbon footprint calculation. The programme included training sessions and talks, among them a speech by our GECO CEO Daniele Capogna on sustainable event management and the integration of ESG principles. The standing dinner aperitivo was brought to life by a photobooth and dance performances.
Achieved results
Measurable sustainability and environmental awareness meet world-class hospitality
The AITMM National Conference provided concrete proof that sustainability and quality are not incompatible goals. Thanks to the active collaboration of the entire supply chain, it was possible to gather the data needed for a precise carbon footprint calculation, delivering to the client a tangible tool for emission compensation and ESG reporting. The educational sessions also played a meaningful role in raising environmental awareness among participants, adding cultural and environmental value to the event beyond its organisational success.
